AG Academiegalerie / OCTA III

[ENG below]

Utrecht
Tom Putman, Bart Schalekamp, Anna Reerds, Samantha Vlaming

Amsterdam
Niels Albers, Bas Burghard, Janina Frye, Sachi Miyachi

After spectacular earlier editions at Maakhaven, The Hague (2020) and at Utrecht’s Kunstliefde (2021), the occasional collective OCTA presents its third collaborative project in AG. OCTA (Or Call This Art) consists of eight young artists in an ever-changing composition of four from two cities each, with the aim to gradually create a branching network. OCTA III brings together eight makers from Utrecht and Amsterdam, including three former students of HKU Product Design and an alumna HKU Fine Art and Design in Education.

In this third edition, the goal is again to break the boundaries of the individual art practice through intensive collaborations, prioritizing adventure and experimentation to perfectionism and convention. Participants will reflect on and respond to each other’s work and the architecture of AG with the concept of ’the labyrinth’ as the overarching starting point. Expect a completely transformed space with room for clever installations, ingenious technical spectacle and absurdist panoramas.
