Formation – Class 1941, 2020 – Choi Wong

Menselijke verwantschap is een terugkerend thema in het werk van Choi Wong. Speciaal voor de EXboot maakt Wong een installatie die groepsdynamiek bevraagt. De basis van dit onderzoek is een klassenfoto uit het jaar 1941. De statige, bijna statueske, pose van de vrouwen in de foto, in combinatie met de nabehandeling die Wong toevoegt, geeft het geheel een ongemakkelijke, spookachtige atmosfeer.

Interpersonal relationships are an ever recurring theme in Choi Wongs work.
Especially for EXboot, Wong creates an installation that questions groupdynamics.
The basis for the research is a class picture from the year 1941. The static, almost statuesque, pose of the women in the picture, in combination with the treatment that Wong adds to it, gives it altogether an eerie, ghost-like atmosphere.
