Biografie

Rolf Weijburg (Eindhoven, 1952) is etser, kaartenmaker, illustrator, schrijver
en reiziger. Hij brengt schrijvend, maar vooral etsend, de wereld in kaart. Zo
reisde hij voor zijn grote serie kleuretsen L’Afrique Périphérique in vijftien jaar langs alle eilanden rondom Afrika en is hij nu al bijna twintig jaar bezig aan een serie etsen over de 25 kleinste landen ter wereld. Weijburg
doet verslag van zijn reizen middels teksten en complexe kleuretsen waarin
hij elementen van cartografie, cultuur, natuur, geschiedenis en architectuur
doet samensmelten. Rolf Weijburg won in 1992 de Nederlandse Grafiekprijs
en zijn etsen bevinden zich in vele grote museale- (o.a. Rijksmuseum) en
bedrijfscollecties. Ze worden veelvuldig geëxposeerd in binnen en buitenland.
