Moving Gallery

De Moving Gallery dankt haar naam aan de – dreigende – noodzaak al te moeten verhuizen voor er goed en wel begonnen was. Daarmee werd meteen het concept geboren: het bieden van een podium aan jonge kunstenaars door gebruik te maken van leegstaande ruimtes die tijdelijk ter beschikking worden gesteld en waar de exposerende kunstenaars zoveel mogelijk zelf aanwezig zijn. De exposities zijn steeds kortdurend en de officiële opening is elementair onderdeel van het programma, met aandacht voor en uitleg over de kunstenaars. Het woord ‘moving’ staat ook voor ons programma; we willen werk tonen dat de bezoeker daadwerkelijk ‘raakt’.

 

The Moving Gallery owes its name to the threat the gallery had to move before it started. That also gave the gallery its concept: providing a stage to young artists by using vacant spaces that are temporarily available and where the exhibiting artists themselves are present in the gallery as much as possible. The exhibitions always run for a short period only and the official opening forms an essential part of the programme, with attention for and explanation about the artists. The word ‘moving’ also stands for our programme. We want to show art that genuinely ‘moves’ the visitor.
