Kunstenaar Gertruud Dentjens (1959) verzamelt materiaal dat al een leven achter de rug heeft en sporen van gebruik draagt. In haar werk wil ze de essentie van het materiaal blootleggen en schept daarmee beelden in de meest pure vorm.
De Utrechtse Domtoren wordt momenteel gerenoveerd en is helemaal ingepakt. Als onderdeel van deze restauratie worden er stenen uit de constructie gehaald. Daar zitten ook de zogenoemde ‘montanten’ bij: stenen stijlen die kerkvensters opdelen in kleinere delen en waartussen het glas-in-lood zit. Montanten zijn van groot belang voor de constructie en de uitstraling van de Domtoren.
Dentjens heeft een aantal van deze oude zandstenen montanten uit de restauratie kunnen verwerven en hier nieuwe materialen aan toegevoegd, zoals epoxy, kalkhennep, gerecycled aluminium, gebruikte houten planken en 3D-prints met petflessen als basismateriaal.
Door oude en nieuwe materialen te stapelen wordt een nieuw fundament gemaakt. De nieuwe montanten worden tijdens CareFull in de Domkerk geplaatst, waardoor heden en verleden van de kerk tot het einde van de kunstmanifestatie samenvallen.

Gertruud Dentjens collects materials that have already had a life and bear traces of use. She wants to expose the essence of the material and creates images in the purest form.
The Cathedral Tower in Utrecht is currently being renovated. And, as part of this restoration, stones will be removed from the structure. That includes some mullions. Mullions are stone posts that divide church windows into smaller sections and between which there is glass and stained glass. These are of great importance to the construction and appearance of the Cathedral Tower. The mullions are not visible at the moment because the tower has been completely encased as part of the restoration.
Artist Gertruud Dentjens was able to acquire some of these old sandstone mullions from the restoration and add new materials to them, such as epoxy, lime hemp, recycled aluminium, reused PET bottles (3D printed) and used wooden planks. By stacking old and new materials, a new foundation is created. These new mullions will be placed back in the cathedral and thus made visible again. Thus, the sculpture will be returned to the city of Utrecht and be accessible to all.
