Op zaterdag 10 september wordt het Waterliniemuseum één grote filmset, waarin zang, opera, muziek, decor en theater elkaar afwisselen. Als kijker word je onderdeel van een meeslepend verhaal waarin je telkens op het verkeerde been wordt gezet. ‘Red herrings’ in de titel verwijst naar een techniek die in verhalen wordt gebruikt om aandacht af te leiden.
De performance van 10 september wordt opgenomen en is als film en installatie tot het einde van de tentoonstelling CareFull te zien. In die installatie waan je je, temidden van de decors en kostuums, eveneens op een filmset.
A bunch of red herrings is de tweede samenwerking van kunstenaars Caz Egelie (1994) en Jesse Strikwerda (1991). In dit project onderzoeken ze met experiment, participatie en samenwerking nieuwe manieren om theater en beeldende kunst te combineren. A bunch of red herrings verhaalt over geschiedenis en kunstgeschiedenis, over de maakbaarheid van identiteit en het ontrafelt ingrediënten en structuren van een verhaal.

On Saturday 10 September, the Waterliniemuseum will become one big movie set, alternating between song, opera, music, scenery and theatre. As a viewer, you become part of a compelling story in which you are repeatedly caught off guard. ‘Red herrings’ in the title refers to a technique used in stories to divert attention.
The 10 September performance will be recorded and on view as a film and installation until the end of the CareFull exhibition. In that installation, you also imagine yourself on a movie set amidst the sets and costumes.
A bunch of red herrings is the second collaboration between artists Caz Egelie (1994) and Jesse Strikwerda (1991). In this project, they explore new ways of combining theatre and visual arts with experimentation, participation and collaboration. A bunch of red herrings recounts history and art history, the malleability of identity, and it unravels ingredients and structures of a story.
